The Centre for Research in Medical Bioclimatology, Biotechnologies, and Natural Medicines of Milan University was founded with Rector's Decree No. 37683 of 31.03.1969 and subsequent amendments, and is controlled by a Board of Directors including the following members:

The Centre has the following aims:

Promoting and encouraging the development of experimental and practical studies and research in the field of medical bioclimatology, biomedical technologies and complementary (non-conventional) medicines;

Promoting the knowledge and diffusion of advanced trends in bioclimatology;

Promoting team research, in close co-operation between researchers, technicians and experts in all disciplines involved in the above-mentioned areas;

Promoting and encouraging the development of studies and research in the field of integrated complementary (non-conventional) medicines with respect to their cross-disciplinary, technical and practical issues.

The Centre also avails itself of the scientific and technical staff operating at the Department of Human Anatomy of Milan University, one of the most advanced in Europe.

     
 


The Centre is characterized for the following activities:

Scientific: bioclimatological research, studies and research in the field of biomedical technologies and natural medicines, including international co-operation activities.

Educational: Training and Specialization graduate Courses for medical practitioners

Organizational: promotion and organization of Workshops, Symposia, and Conventions.

The World Health Organization (W.H.O.), based in Geneva, has acknowledged the Centre as a unique Collaborating Facility in Europe in the field of Traditional Medicine (thermal medicine, acupuncture, phytotherapy, homeopathy, ayurvedic medicine, etc.).

  • "WHO Consultation on " Contaminants and Residues in Herbal Medicines", (2004)
  • "WHO Working Group Meeting on "The Evidence Base for Homeopathy"(2003-2004)
  • WHO Consultation on Guidelines on Developing Consumer Information on Proper Use of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (2003)
  • WHO Consultation on "Chiropratics" (2004)
  • WHO Consultation on "Phytotherapy" (2006)
